TTLF organized a workshop promoting body positivity and mental health for young girls in the Makoko community area of Lagos state, Nigeria. Perception of colorism often impacts self-esteem, mood, and overall mental health. TTLF created a safe space for participants to openly explore their views and create meaning behind their experiences. More specifically, participants discussed messages received in childhood about complexion and how it has been internalized. The goal of the workshop was to identify negative internalized beliefs, challenge those thoughts, replace detrimental thoughts with positive thoughts, and create opportunities to practice new skills.
